The doctoral program in Economics is designed to create a knowledge base to conceptualize and analyse economic problems with real-life applications. This program aims to produce a generation of economics scholars capable of conducting independent, original, academic, and practice-based research. Therefore, the modality of the program will be based on creating transferable skills across several fields and integrate activities that develop the ability to work with real-life problems using big datasets.
Doctoral candidates have an opportunity to gain critical knowledge in various fields by enrolling in specialised courses, attending workshops and seminars, and doing independent studies. They can also expand their breadth in economics by taking advantage of the interdisciplinary academic space provided by the different schools at FLAME University. The program will train researchers to think systematically, access, and process big data using advanced econometrics and computational techniques, and answer questions from various subfields in economics such as development economics, health economics, macro and financial economics, international economics, behavioural economics, and experimental economics. The intensive training under the mentorship of a team of highly skilled faculty advisors would give the doctoral candidates a strong foundation for writing their dissertation and preparing for their future careers.
