THEME - BOUNDARY | 3rd January - 3rd February, 2020

Boundary indicates division or limitation. It could be imaginary or actually drawn dividing line between two or many. The boundary divides two worlds and beings, separate from each other. For an artist, it could be fascinating to understand, perceive and articulate the idea of the boundary. Or, an artist may come up with a panorama of visuals, a series of movements while responding to dynamic spaces created by a dividing line.

FLAME Artists’ Residency 2020 seeks proposals from artists who are willing to engage with the idea and practice of the boundary-making in their work. Artists may develop their artistic work through the residency, by responding to questions such as: How does an artist reflect on an image or a metaphor of boundary through her work? What are the ways to artistically present the divided worlds of human beings and societies? How do our artistic expressions change with the stable as well as changing forms of the boundary? How does one understand and articulate the shift from one boundary to the other? How does an artist explore the act of division in her practice through changing times and contexts? In which ways, an artist could challenge the boundary through the creative process?

If you are a visual artist, photographer, video artist, or a performing artist; please send a narrative proposal (not more than 500 words) in response to the above mentioned theme for the upcoming edition of FLAME Artists’ Residency. Artists below 35 years of age are eligible to apply. Please share your CV and samples of recent work in support of your proposal.

You may send your proposal and samples of earlier work by October 31, 2019 to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Selected artists will be notified by November 15, 2019.
