Prof. Soumodip Sarkar

Soumodip Sarkar is Full Professor at the University of Évora, where he also held roles such as Dean, and Vice-Rector. His research spans innovation, entrepreneurship, AI, and sustainability. He has many well regarded publications in journals Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Operations Management, ; IEEE-TEM; Government Information Quarterly, Regional Studies, Scientometrics, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Small Business Management, European Management Journal, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Service Business, Sustainability, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Knowledge Economy, European Journal of Innovation Management, Service Industries Journal, Trends in Food Science and Technology, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Energy Journal. He is listed in Stanford’s top 2% researchers for the last three years in a row.

He is also an Executive President of the Alentejo Science & Technology Park (PACT), in Portugal. In this role, he dialogues regularly with 60+ tech firm. Prof Sarkar is also a project leader of many EU-funded initiatives. He has been past coordinator of the University Evaluation council in Portugal (Management) and in Lithuania (Social Sciences). He is also a CEEMAN PRT member. He serves as Portugal’s Scientific Coordinator for GEM. He holds a PhD from Northeastern University, USA.
