Prof. Mayank Loonker

Prof. Loonker is a design researcher, educator, and practitioner with over 20 years of experience across academia and industry. His work lies at the intersection of people, narratives, spaces and interactions, with a strong focus on understanding human behaviour, cognition, and lived experiences to inform meaningful design interventions.

He has previously held teaching and research roles at institutions such as the University of Kent and the National Institute of Design, and has contributed to design education across multiple leading institutions in India and internationally.

In addition to his academic work, Prof. Loonker has extensive professional experience as a UX researcher and design consultant. He has led research initiatives across domains such as healthcare, fintech, SaaS, mobility and design for museum exhibitions, experience centres, and immersive and interactive exhibits.

His research has been published in leading international conferences such as ACM CHI and DIS. His work explores tangible interactions, immersive technology, embodied and sensorial experiences, and play.

His current research interests include designing interactive experiences for ageing populations and emotional well-being.
