Prof. Manasi Anand is Assistant Professor – Environmental Studies at FLAME University. Prof. Mansi is a PhD from Cornell University in Natural Resources and the Environment; She has MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from University of Oxford, St. Cross College and BSc in Chemistry, Botany, and Environmental Science – Mount Carmel College, Bangalore University.
At Cornell University, Prof. Manasi has held several academic roles, including Course Instructor, Lead Teaching Assistant, CTI Graduate Teaching Fellow, Graduate Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, and GSMU Mentor. She has Designed and taught a first-year writing seminar integrating forest governance and environmental justice, incorporating theoretical analysis and public communication through op-eds, podcasts, and interviews. Managed administration for a 240-student course, coordinated lesson planning, facilitated discussions, supervised research projects, and conducted office hours. She co-developed the Nature-Based Climate Solutions capstone course and supervised student research on the science, finance, accounting, and justice dimensions of peatland fires in Indonesia through a four-episode podcast project. She also facilitated discussions, graded assignments, and mentored undergraduate research on environmental governance and policy.Mentored underrepresented undergraduates on graduate school preparation, research opportunities, and career pathways.
As a Research Intern at Indian Institute for Human Settlements she developed a socio-ecological monitoring framework for peri-urban forests.
Her research interests include Environmental Governance, Institutional Analysis, Global South Forest Systems, Natural Climate Solutions, Global-local linkages.
