BIO

Prof. Ashish Goyal is a senior investment professional and governance leader with over three decades of experience managing, governing, and allocating institutional capital across global public and private markets. He has served as Chief Investment Officer, senior pension fund executive, and head of multi-asset investment platforms, and is widely respected for building organization cultures grounded in intellectual curiosity, rigorous debate, and accountability – translating into highly effective board and investment committee deliberations.

Most recently, as Executive Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific for OMERS (a C$140B Canadian pension plan), Ashish led the pension fund’s regional expansion as a senior member of the Portfolio Management Committee, the fund’s apex investment oversight body, with accountability for a multi-asset portfolio representing ~10% of total AUM. He built the firm’s Asian equity and credit franchises from the ground up.

Earlier, as Head of Global Emerging Markets Equity at NN Investment Partners, he led a strategic overhaul of the

franchise’s investment philosophy and governance framework.

Ashish’s foundational leadership experience spans a 21-year tenure at Eastspring Investments (formerly Prudential Asset Management), where he rose from Analyst to Chief Investment Officer for Asia and Global Emerging Market Equities, with responsibility for approximately US$25 billion in institutional and retail assets and a 40-person investment organization. He institutionalized investment processes balancing scalability, performance, and fiduciary discipline, and served as the firm’s primary voice for institutional clients, consultants, regulators, and the media.

Ashish brings deep governance and market-structure experience, having served as Chair of the FTSE Singapore Committee, a member of the FTSE Asia Pacific Committee, and on regulatory and shareholder advisory bodies in Singapore and Hong Kong addressing market integrity and minority shareholder protection. He has also served as a director on multiple private company boards across investment holding, credit, infrastructure, and technology businesses in Singapore and India, and is known for his measured judgment, long-term orientation, and ability to bridge the perspectives of asset owners, asset managers, and investment teams.

He is a CFA charterholder, with an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School, the University of Michigan, and the Centre for Creative Leadership – North Carolina. Ashish is also a mentor and Male Champion with the Financial Women’s Association Singapore, and an advocate for strong fiduciary standards, diversity, and thoughtful leadership in financial services.
