Prof. Anjal holds a Doctorate Degree in Social\Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University, Netherlands; Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; Post-graduate Diploma in Rural Development and Management from Center for Research on New International Economic Order (CReNIEO), Chennai, India.
BIO

Prof. Anjal Prakash is Professor-Public Policy at Flame University.  He was earlier Clinical Associate Professor (Research) and Research Director at the Bharati Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business. Prof Prakash holds a PhD in Social and Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University, Netherlands, and is a prominent figure in the fields of sustainability, climate change adaptation, and integrated water resources management.


Prof. Prakash's extensive expertise includes leading roles in vital global research initiatives. As an author in various reports for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), he focuses on climate vulnerability, especially concerning urban infrastructure, mountain ecosystems, gender and social inequity. His contributions to IPCC reports emphasize the integration of gender and equity considerations into climate policy frameworks. His career spans various leadership roles across South Asia, managing projects on water security and climate change adaptation. Prof Prakash’s collaborative work with governments, UN agencies, and NGOs highlights his capacity to synthesize academic research with practical policy solutions, particularly in peri-urban water management and sustainable urban development.


In academia, Dr. Prakash is noted for his interdisciplinary teaching at the Indian School of Business, covering public policy, sustainability, and gender studies.  Prior to ISB, he was Associate Professor and Associate Dean at Teri School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi. He is also an influential voice in scholarly publishing, serving as editor and board member for multiple prestigious international peer reviewed journals. Prof. Anjal Prakash serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, where he contributes to interdisciplinary research and education, and is affiliated with the East-West Center, Hawaii, USA as Senior Adjunct Fellow focusing on climate change and sustainable development issues in South Asia. He was also a visiting professor at Azim Premji University and Nepal Engineering College. 


Fluent in several south Asian languages, Dr. Prakash engages with global forums and workshops, sharing insights and advocating for impactful climate and water resource policies. His dedication to fostering change is evident in his strategic use of social media and new-age communication tools to broaden research outreach and influence public policy globally.

Engagement with Inter-Governmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC)


Prof Prakash have been part of the special report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate as coordinating lead author (2019).  He was selected as Lead author in the AR 6 Climate Change 2021; Impact, Adaptation and Vulnerability – Working Group 2 - Chapter 6: Cities, settlements and key infrastructure and Cross chapter Paper – Mountains (2022) and Lead Author in IPCC’s Special Report on Cities and Climate change (Ar 7).
