Prof. Abhijit Mazumdar has Doctorate Degree in Communication & Information from the University of Tennessee. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology & Botany from the University of Lucknow.
BIO

Prof. Abhijit Mazumdar is an Assistant Professor –Journalism at FLAME University. Prof. Abhijit Mazumdar holds a Doctoral Degree in Communication and Information from the University of Tennessee. He holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the U.S. He has completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and Botany from the University of Lucknow.


Prof. Mazumdar has worked with some of the leading media organizations in India, including the Times of India, Hindustan Times, Outlook and the United News of India. He has taught courses independently at the University of Tennessee and was an assistant professor for seven years at Northeastern State University and Park University in the U.S. where he won several awards and research grants. He has been a Visiting International Scholar to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a recipient of a FASPE Ethics Fellowship in the U.S. and was awarded an NRI Hind Rattan Award for his research in communication.


His research work has been widely recognized, with publications in esteemed book chapters, journals, and presentations at international conferences. Notable works include studies on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweets during the 2019 Lok Sabha campaign, press portrayal of India in The New York Times and The Washington Post, paid news in India and media portrayal of terrorism.


His research interests include political communication, communication ethics and culture.
