Submit a Story - Stories Around the Bonfire

The Writing Centre is starting a new live storytelling series called Stories Around the Bonfire. Every month we will hold a live session where students will tell true, personal stories from their lives. To submit a story for consideration, fill out this form and attach your written story. Stories do not HAVE to be written, however. You can also submit a story in person. Just indicate that on the submission form as well.
Here are the submission guidelines:
  • Stories must be true (non-fiction) and first-person
  • Stories should be 5-15 minutes when told aloud (between 750 and 2000 words)
  • Stories can only be submitted by the storyteller his or herself
  • You can submit as many stories as you like
  • Keep in mind that not everything is a story--we're not looking for anecdotes, observations, or poetry
  • We will work with you to improve your story
If selected, stories will be edited with the help of the Writing Centre. Then they will be rehearsed until they are performance-ready. Only stories that are performance-ready will be part of an upcoming storytelling event.
Remember once again that your submission should be a genuine, first-person, personal true story. Know a great storyteller? Encourage her to submit something. Know a particularly fascinating guy with an amazing life experience? Help him polish a story to send our way. Live storytelling is scary, but as soon as you share one, you can't wait to do it all over again.
Submit your story by filling out the form HERE.
