FLAME University's Annual Convocation 2017 was held at the FLAME University campus in Pune on 29th April, 2017. Mr. Nandan Nilekani, noted entrepreneur, author and philanthropist was the chief guest for the event.

Members of the FLAME University Board, dignitaries from industry and academia, students and their families, faculty, alumni and staff of FLAME University participated in this ceremony.

Expressing pride and happiness on the convocation day, Dr. Santosh Kudtarkar, Associate Dean, Faculty of Liberal Education said, "As students of FLAME University embark on a new chapter in their lives, I can't help but reminisce about how they were in contrast with what they are now. It makes us feel very proud of them and there are no doubts in our minds that the education and the life experience that they received here will have a positive and lasting impact on their lives."

Dr. D. S Rao, Provost, added, "People who can connect the dots of events happening around them go on to be successful in their professional lives. In the ever-changing work environment, it's the survival of the most adaptive rather than the strongest. These values have been inculcated in you in your time spent at FLAME University. Go on into the world and make us proud."

The convocation was declared open by Dr. Devi Singh, Vice-Chancellor, FLAME University. Academic medals were awarded by the honorable chief guest, Mr. Nandan Nilekani. During his rousing address to the graduating students, he remarked, "The mantra to success is constant learning. It's a long-term marathon, not a sprint. Big ideas motivate people more than anything. So, aim for something big and pursue it relentlessly. With the education you have received here at FLAME University, you have the emotional and intellectual toolkit to conquer the world." He persuaded students to use unbridled optimism as a tool to face the many challenges they are likely to face. He also advised students to resist instant gratification - asserting that delayed gratification is more rewarding in the long run.

Dr. Devi Singh, Vice-Chancellor, during his convocation address spoke about how the interdisciplinary education provided by FLAME prepares students to meet the disruptions ensuing in most industries today. He said, "The essentially interdisciplinary character of the education at FLAME has provided you with the necessary exposure to the multifaceted character of human nature. Above all else, it has inculcated in you the importance of thinking and developing habits of thinking rather than just knowing. This leaves you in good stead in a world that throws upon you multiple unknowns, uncertainties and surprises."

The ceremony ended with the Vice Chancellor declaring the convocation closed followed by the FLAME anthem. Students and parents said their final good byes while reminiscing on their memories at FLAME over the convocation dinner with faculty, staff and all guests present.

FLAME University wishes its graduating students all the best for their future.
