FLAME University is excited to welcome Dr. Dishan Kamdar, eminent professor and former Deputy Dean at the Indian School of Business (ISB), the top ranked global business school, as the next Vice-Chancellor of FLAME University from August 9, 2018. He was associated with ISB for 14 years, where he was considered 'a central pillar' in supporting ISB to become one of the most prestigious B-Schools globally. He takes over the role from Dr. Devi Singh, who completes a successful term with FLAME. Prior to FLAME, Dr. Singh was the Director at the Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow and MDI-Gurgaon.

Making the announcement, Mr. Vallabh Bhanshali, FLAME Governing Body member, said, "We are delighted to have Dr. Dishan Kamdar as the second Vice-Chancellor of FLAME University. A reputed scholar in organizational behaviour, negotiation analysis and decision making, Dr. Kamdar brings with him a wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge and global experience, having led an internationally top ranked B-School, which will help strengthen FLAME University's position as the pioneer of liberal arts education and a University of Choice in India. His career and research have kind of honed him perfectly to take FLAME to new heights by adding deeper research, greater academic rigour and new cutting-edge offerings. We are all very excited to have him.

" Expressing his thoughts on joining FLAME University, Dr. Dishan Kamdar said, "I am very excited to begin my journey at FLAME University, which has made rapid strides in liberal education in a short span of time.

"Today, India and other countries across the world are facing some of the biggest political, socio - economic, environmental and technological challenges. Furthermore, the world is getting smaller and the rise of Internet, social media and artificial intelligence has created new challenges and opportunities. Tackling these requires the expertise to think critically and having an in-depth understanding of how these forces will impact us in the future.

"I believe that liberal education will provide the next generation leaders the necessary skill sets to overcome these challenges. Given the emphasis on learning, thinking and communicating via creativity and problem solving and a multidimensional perspective towards issues affecting the world around us, our next generation will be able to find creative ways to resolve issues and more importantly manage adversity. I am confident that many liberal arts graduates will take on the mantle of being the harbingers of change globally and envisage FLAME University playing a significant role in this transformation.

"I look forward to working with the outstanding faculty, students, alumni and staff at FLAME to make it one of India's most reputed and respected universities in the next few years."

A widely respected researcher, thought leader and institution builder, a senior faculty member and a favourite professor to all his students, Dr. Kamdar most recently served as Deputy Dean, Academic Programmes and Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Indian School of Business (ISB). Under his leadership, ISB was successful in admitting the largest-ever student body and setting new benchmarks in its flagship programmes. He played a vital role in faculty recruitments, innovative programme delivery, new program offerings and major curriculum revamps.

Dr. Dishan Kamdar joined the ISB in 2004 and progressed into leadership roles within a short span. He was granted an early tenure, in his fourth year, based on his research excellence and subsequently awarded a full professorship, which also makes him one of the youngest full professors in academia internationally. He is cited as one of India's top researchers and among the leading ones globally. He is credited with achieving this success far earlier than several others in academia. He has published papers in top-tier international journals and has been invited to present his studies at international conferences. His research interests include work-related performance and extra-role behaviours which are both 'promotive' and 'prohibitive', knowledge sharing, group performance, trust, voice in the organisation, whistle blowing, creativity and leadership, work culture and more.

Dr. Dishan Kamdar specializes in teaching Negotiation Analysis and Decision Making. He is a renowned Executive Coach to several CEOs and a frequently sought-after faculty among professionals from the industry and government as well. He is the recipient of multiple teaching awards right from his early days and has been awarded the 'Professor of the Year' five times in the last decade by students. Dr. Kamdar has surpassed many a milestone in teaching, research and institutional governance. Dr. Kamdar holds a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
