The latest happenings in the FLAME Community

The Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) Nuffield – FLAME University aims to promote cutting-edge social science research in India by using rigorous experimental techniques. As part of this mission, CESS Nuffield – FLAME University (CNFU) welcomes visiting researcher Pete Aceves, a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology from the University of Chicago. He will be working with CNFU co-Director Pavan Mamidi on a laboratory experiment that focuses on how a language's linguistic properties affect creativity and judgment.

Pete Aceves, University of Chicago
Pete Aceves is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology at the University of Chicago. His research straddles organization theory, collective cognition, and sociolinguistics. He uses archival, computational, and experimental methods to investigate how collectives think, decide, problem-solve, and distribute attention, among other socio-cognitive processes.

Mr. Aceves has previously worked as a consultant for the Results for Development Institute in Washington D.C.; CHOICE Humanitarian/Mariakani Dairy Cooperative in Mombasa, Kenya; and the The Rockefeller Foundation in New York City. Mr. Aceves holds an MBA from the Hough Graduate School of Business, University of Florida, and a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of California, Berkeley.
