Being at FLAME University for a semester gave me perspective on studying human rights, both inside the classroom and outside of it. While India isn’t often seen as the most likely choice for an academic exchange, I am so grateful to everyone I met there. I am especially grateful to the members of the Chhara community in Ahmedabad for their hospitality, as well as to the cleaning didis of my hostel block for their patience with my broken Hindi and charades every morning.
