Dr. Sonali Pattnaik has a PhD in Literature in English from Mumbai University and an MPhil in English from Delhi University. She is an educator, poet, visual artist and academic. She is the author of when the flowers begin to speak, a volume of over 80 poems in English, published by Writers Workshop, India. She is the recipient of The Orange Flower Award for Poetry, 2022. Her poetry and artwork have been published in several print anthologies including Of Brave Hearts and Dry Tongues, ed. Reema Ahmad and Semeen Ali, Red River, Through the Looking Glass: Reflecting on the Madness Within, Indie Blu(e), USA, and The Kali Project, ed. Candice Louisa Daquin and Megha Sood, Indie Blu(e), USA. Previously her work has appeared in The Bombay Review, Yugen Quest Review, The Book Review, The Indian Express, Muse India, and Café Dissensus, and an anthology by Sampad, UK, titled Journeys, among others. A well published academic who writes on visuality, film, gender and corporeality, she was Assistant Professor in English (permanent) at Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College and has taught Literature in English and Film and Gender Studies to graduate and postgraduate students at Universities of Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, SNDT University, Whistling Woods, Jai Hind and Sr. Xavier’s College. She is currently associated with St, Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad as Visiting Professor and External Expert in the Board of Studies for English.
