About the Conversation: Shanta Gokhale speaks to students and faculty online about the play as a form and it's uniqueness in relation to other written forms of expressions and performance making, the process of writing a play and the challenges a writer faces in the process, and the work that one needs to do while developing basic elements such characterisation, plot and dialogue. 

Shanta Gokhale is a well known translator and writer of novels, plays, short stories, film scripts and innumerable newspaper articles. She writes in Marathi and English. Gokhale has written and edited several books on theatre including Playwright at the Centre and The Scenes We Made: An Oral History of Experimental Theatre. Shanta Gokhale has received prestigious awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the lifetime achievement award at Tata Literature Live.
