PROFILE OF THE SPEAKERS:

Ms. Bina Paul graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, with a specialisation in editing. She has edited over 45 feature films and documentaries and is the recipient of two National Awards and numerous State Awards for editing. She has also worked in television and has directed several documentaries. Bina has been the Artistic Director of the International Film Festival of Kerala for the last ten years and has served the deputy director of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Since May 2017, she has been working closely with "Women Collective in Cinema", India's first association that aims to work towards equal opportunity and dignity of women employees in film industry.

Ms. Vaishnavi Sundar is a writer and a self-taught filmmaker. Her interests lie in an odd mix of cinema, arts and feminism. She produced and directed India’s first feature-length documentary on Workplace Sexual Harassment in 2018. Her films Pava, The Catalyst and Unearthing The Treasures of Ariyalur have been screened in several Indian and international festivals. She is the founder of Women Making Films, which is known for its effort to break the glass ceiling within the fraternity of domestic and world cinema. She has written, directed, and produced all her films under her own production company, Lime Soda Films.

Ms. Kani Kusruti is an Indian actress and model. She started her acting career with the Abhinaya Theatre Research Centre, Trivandrum and later enrolled in the theatre arts program at the Thrissur Drama School. She completed her theatre education at the L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, where she studied physical theatre. In 2010, Kani collaborated on creating 'Las Indias', a mega performance event directed by the thespian and theatre pedagogist Elias Cohen. In 2011, Kani joined the renowned touring theatre company Footsbarn to work on a production of Shakespeare's Tempest. Kusruti researched, co-developed and acted in the Indo-Polish production 'Burning Flowers - 7 Dreams of a Woman', directed by Pawel Szkotak and produced by Teatr Biuro Podróży.
