BIO

Ashwini Giri is an alumnus of the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and (Batch1995).


She worked with the National School of Drama Repertory Co from 1995-97, where she worked under major theatre practitioner including Barry John, Prasanna, Ratan Theyyam. She is currently involved with various groups in Maharashtra.


Throughout her career Ashwini Giri has acted in several critically acclaimed films including Shwas, Valu, Vihir, Restaurant, Shala, Chittthi, and Lathe Joshi. Shwas was an official Indian entry for the Oscars in 2005-06.


Ashwini has won V. Shantaram Award (2006), Mama Varerkar Purskar (2005), and Zee Gaurav Purskar (2005) State Award (2017) for her contribution in the field.


Apart from working in Theatre and cinema, she has conducted many regional Acting workshops. She is also faculty at the Centre for Performing Arts, Pune University since 2001 and FLAME University since 2008.
