Dipalle has received her education in design and architecture at the Rachana Sansad, School of Architecture- Mumbai. Winning the Best Designer of the year award 1997-98 by the IIID - Indian Institute of Interior Design, she went on to receive accolades for projects including SNDT polytechnic college for women in Mumbai, a 100-acre Eco-resort in Goa, a boutique hotel in the heart of Mumbai, homes for celebrities, and a maternity nursing home. Over her career of 17 years she has held her independent practice and also collaborated and worked with the best architects and designers in the industry – Varsha Desai asso., Kapil Damania, Edwankars, Dean D’cruz, Manish Banker, Axis Furniture Pvt. Ltd. All through out Furniture design, ambience design and training young designers remained her forte.
At the same time she continued studying and performing Indian classical dance and Hindustani classical music from stalwarts like Madhurita Sarang, Jhelum Paranjpe, Jayesh Gujarati, Rajendra Desai, Dinesh K Mahavir. Winning awards at IPTA and doing professional theatre with Avaan Patel and Meher Pestonji and body work and movement art in international residency with Attakalari, although drawing and writing remained consistently part of her creative processes.
In the late 90’s Dipalle discovered and developed her own minimalist style of painting. Since then she has been invited to exhibit her work in India and abroad. Her art is inspired by the interactions with tribal communities of India as well as time she spends working with children in the cities.
Through all the mediums Dipalle has continued to explore the inter-relationship between artist and community. And has developed a learning-to-learn, creativity program which integrates fine and performing art forms, writing and communication in schools and colleges such as the Poddar School in Mumbai, Comet Media’s Bal Vividha, NCPA, art school in Italy, Symbiosis and MIT Design schools and private consultations.
Dipalle has also had several works published including poems, haikus and short stories. Twice winner of slam poetry reading at COHO- Mumbai, a member of Loquations – a poetry forum at NCPA and Caferati, her writing regularly appears in newspapers, magazines, e-zines and international journals.
She is currently teaching a course on contemporary dance at FLAME for the UG students and will be teaching programs in visual arts and creative writing.
