With the beginning of a new year, citizens of our country look forward to the end of the financial year which brings with it new hopes in the form of Union Budget. Unlike every year, this year the announcement of budget is preponed to 1 February, 2017. With too many new policy implementations in 2016, this year’s expectations from the budget are undoubtedly exceptional. Every common person is expecting an increased tax exemption limit, and rebates on housing loans as an effect of demonetisation and GST. On this note, the Department of Economics, FLAME University is organizing a Pre- Budget Panel Discussion on Monday, 23 January 2017, where eminent panellists would discuss expectations of different sectors of the economy from Union Budget 2017-2018.
The panel members will discuss expectations from the budget on aspects such as a) improving macroeconomics variables, b) banking sector development, c) impetus to industries and d) utilization of non-profit organizations in social sector development.
