HAPPENINGS @ FLAME

The latest happenings in the FLAME Community

FLAME Alumnus Aman Jain shares his experience as a Sports Manager, among other interests.

A singer, YouTuber, and podcast enthusiast at heart and a Sports Manager by profession, FLAME alumnus Aman Jain is taking on life at full speed. His interest in meeting new people and his inclination towards Film and Television major were the driving factors for him to join FLAME.

His main highlights at FLAME were winning the Discover India Program and getting a chance to experience the International Discover India Program (IDIP) in Vietnam. While the course modules, facilities and the faculty drew his interest in film, television and music, there was yet another calling that kicked in quickly.

Aman had learnt a significant and crucial lesson when he was at FLAME. He developed the habit of thinking liberally and always kept an open mind to exploring other options. In doing so, after studying at FLAME he took a two-year gap to work in different fields, and found himself doing an internship at BT Sport. He ran his own YouTube channel, making vlogs, analysis and fan videos of football in Europe and cricket in the UK. It was at this turning point in his life when he decided to explore his career in International Sports Management.

From that point, Aman’s life would never be the same. He was now a singer, YouTuber, and podcast enthusiast, alongside pursuing his passion for sports as a Sports Manager, which soon became his focus point in life. While earning a degree in International Sports Management, he also had the benefits of sharper sports media skills to accelerate doors to new opportunities. He studied at a sports-centric university based inside the Wembley Stadium in England, where he excelled in the Master’s degree program.

While doing his masters in London, Aman his internship at Vitae Sports in the Marketing & Communications department was also instrumental in shaping his career. He came out as an effective communicator, and a public speaker. At Vitae Sports, Aman also managed content creation along with handling social media handles and facing the camera. His experience was enriching; it was something he could carry with him and build on in the long run. His internship also opened doors for him to work in the UK.

Furthermore, his work on the organising committee at St. Moritz Ice Cricket by VJ Sports in Zurich, Switzerland was a game changer. His experience working with VJ Sports owner Vijay Singh gained him the opportunity to strategize for the Ice Cricket Event in 2023, working on new formats and catering to the dynamic consumption of content by its sports viewers. Aman is currently assisting in the design of the format, team structures, generating revenue, sponsorship deals, and sourcing players and coaches for the event.

For more than a year now, Aman has been associated with Kaizen Media Solutions and Dinesh Chopra Media, where he exclusively represented and managed Mr. Shoaib Akhtar’s work assignment in Dubai during the ICC World T20 Cricket World Cup 2021. He also bagged the opportunity to manage cricket legends Gautam Gambhir, Brian Lara, Ajit Agarkar, Mohd Kaif,Murali Kartik, Munaf Patel, RP Singh, and Maninder Singh’s IPL 2020, 2021 & 2022 sponsorship, commercial, and digital work commitments.

Aman learnt a great deal about how the sports talent management industry works in India. He was also able to develop his network. His company was also briefly associated with ex-cricketer Yuvraj Singh, managing his work assignment for a sports TV channel. The interactions and experiences were enriching and memorable.

His main point of advice here for young professionals getting an opportunity to work with great cricket legends is to not get starstruck. He further goes on to say that it is professionally beneficial to put aside your admiration for these sports icons while working with them and managing their assignments. Communication and coordination skills come in very handy here as many stakeholders are involved in every work assignment.

While juggling his work life and balancing it among his other passions of singing and managing his YouTube channel and podcast series, he admits that it’s not always possible to do all at the same time. However, he does enjoy his work and finds himself lucky enough to be able to do what he loves 7 days a week. He further advises all young professionals just stepping into Sports Management to keep striving and building their skills. Never stop networking since it has helped him find amazing job opportunities through LinkedIn and in attending sports summits.
