DESCRIPTION:H.E. Ambassador Bhaswati Mukherjee is a post graduate (First Class) in Hist
 ory from Delhi University and has a Degree (Superior) in French History and
  Civilization from Sorbonne University, France. Ambassador Mukherjee joined
  the Indian Foreign Service in 1976 and was India’s Ambassador to UNESCO, P
 aris, from 2004 to 2010 and subsequently, India’s Ambassador to the Netherl
 ands, The Hague from 2010 to 2013. Ambassador Mukherjee completed FICCI’s c
 ourse on ‘Woman and Corporate Governance’ and successfully completed with d
 istinction the Ministry of Corporate Affairs online proficiency test for In
 dependent Directors in October 2020. Ambassador Mukherjee has served as Ind
 ependent Director in Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. till August 2019 and 
 Jindal Stainless till July 2023. She is presently an Independent Director i
 n the Boards of JK Laxmi Cement as well as Udaipur Cement, in addition to P
 etronet LNG Limited. She is also Independent Director on the Board of Jinda
 l Ferrous Limited. Ambassador Mukherjee worked successfully on the Indentur
 ed Labour Route Project for UNESCO and the Government of Mauritius. She has
  been a senior consultant to MGIEP, UNESCO and DFID. Ambassador Mukherjee w

A prolific writer, she has successfully authored 4 books. ‘India and 
 EU: an Insider View’ commissioned by Indian Council of World Affairs, ‘Indi

 ngal and its Partition: an Inside Story’ published by Rupa in March 2021, a
 nd ‘Indenture and its Route: a Relentless Quest for Identity’ by Rupa Publi
 cations published in September 2023. Ambassador Mukherjee has published ove
 r 100 articles, columns, book reviews, reports and monographs in leading na
 tional and international publications including Strategic Essay on the Vien
 na Declaration and Programme of Action in UN Human Rights Year Book 2025. \

A natural orator, Ambassador Mukherjee is a political commentator on Indi
 an Culture and Civilization, the India EU relationship, Brexit, Human Right
 s, India’s interests in the Indo Pacific, the Chemical Weapons regime, nucl
 ear issues and the changing contours of India’s Foreign Policy, apart from 
 security issues of concern to India. \n
Ambassador Mukherjee has participat
 ed in briefings, seminars, round tables on questions relating to India and 
 the EU, India and its neighbors, the United Nations Human Rights Program, t
 he human rights of women and the girl child, the indentured, as well as iss
 ues relating to UNESCO’s areas of competence, particularly in Education and
