In collaboration with the Alumni Relations Office, the Depar
 tment of Humanities and Languages is organizing an illuminating interactive
  session with our alumna, Ms. Anahita Sachdev. This is part of our monthly 
 Alumni Interaction Series.\n
In the session, she will share insights into h
 er academic and professional experiences, including her time at Columbia Un
 iversity’s Graduate School of Journalism and her career at BBC News. The se
 ssion will provide valuable guidance on higher studies, career opportunitie
 s in LCS, and the media industry. Students will also have the opportunity t
 o ask her questions about navigating the transition from academics to a suc
 cessful career in journalism and digital media.\n
Speaker Bio:\n
Anahita Sa
 chdev is an accomplished journalist, video producer, and media professional
  with a distinguished academic and professional background. She earned her 
 Bachelor of Arts as a Literary and Cultural Studies major with a minor in F
 ilm and Television from FLAME (2014-2018), where she was awarded the Gold M
 edal for Extraordinary All-Round Performance and the Silver Medal for Outst
 anding Scholastic Performance. She graduated with the highest rank in her s
 pecialization and actively served as the chairperson of the FirstCut Intern
 ational Student Film Festival.\n\nShe further pursued a Master of Science i
 n Journalism with Honours from Columbia University-Graduate School of Journ
 alism. Currently, she serves as a Senior Digital Producer at BBC News in Ne
 w Delhi, after working as a video journalist in Washington, D.C., under BBC
  North America's prestigious video fellowship.\n\nAnahita has won numerous 
 accolades, including the Laadli Media Award for Best Issue-Based Program (2
 022) for her work on "In Perspective," a video series covering gender, cast
 e, and LGBTQ+ issues, for which she co-produced and edited over 300 videos.
  She also co-produced "In Perspective," which was nominated for the Webby A
 wards (2021) in the Best Social Videos category.\n\nHer achievements extend
  beyond journalism-she was the second-best speaker in the 'English as a Sec
 ond Language' category at the World Public Speaking Championship (2013) in 
 Durban, South Africa. With a strong foundation in media, public speaking, a
 nd digital storytelling, Anahita continues to shape impactful narratives on
  global platforms.\n
