Comics on environmental issues bring together variou
 s facets of visual communication: the art of cartooning, the breakdown of c
 omplex information and jargon, the economy of editing and the visualization
  of science. How do all these combine into a seemingly simple, humorous pic
 ture? Follow a cartoonist through the steps, and then if inspiration strike
 s, create your own!\n

The Speaker: 
Rohan Chakravart
 y is a cartoonist, illustrator and the creator of Green Humour, a series of
  cartoons, comics and illustrations on wildlife and nature conservation. Ca
 rtoons from Green Humour appear periodically in newspaper columns, magazine
 s and journals. Illustrations from Green Humour have been used for several 
 projects and campaigns on wildlife awareness and climate change. Rohan is a
 lso the author of seven books (including the Penguin publications 'Green Hu
 mour for a Greying Planet', 'Naturalist Ruddy', and 'Pugmarks and Carbon Fo
 otprints') and has won awards from UNDP, Sanctuary Asia, WWF International,
  the Royal Bank of Scotland and Bangalore Literature Festival for his work.
  He is notorious for rolling up into a ball like a pangolin to avoid answer
 ing the phone or meeting people. \n
All are welcome, particularly students 
 of the Environmental Journalism course, Graphic Novels (T3) course, and any
 one interested in comics, art, and environmental issues. \n
