DESCRIPTION:Poverty and inequality are among the oldest and the unsettled problems of t
 his planet. The measurement of poverty and inequality, however, has more re
 cent origins. This lecture aims to introduce the concepts, axioms and indic
 ators widely used in the literature on poverty and inequality. It also atte
 mpts to provide an overview of the national and international discourse on 
 poverty and inequality to emphasize on the need for robust methodologies.\n

 m Joe is an Assistant Professor at the Population Research Centre (PRC), In
 stitute of Economic Growth, Delhi and is also affiliated as Bernard Lown Sc
 holar, Harvard-Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University, United Sta
 tes. He has PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University with research
  interests in Health Economics, Demography, Development Economics and Progr
 am Evaluation.\nCurrently he is involved in research and technical support 
 on maternal and child nutrition in India for the Ministry of Health and Fam
 ily Welfare, the NITI Aayog, Tata Trusts and the UNICEF. He is also engaged
  in monitoring and evaluation of National Health Mission (NHM).\n
