SUMMARY:A session on "“How do Repeated Government Infusions affect bank risks?”
LOCATION:Vikram Sarabhai Centre for Executive Education\, VKS (003)
DESCRIPTION:While government led bank capital infusions in US and other developed marke
ts have been usually contingent on an external shock or crisis episode, Ind
ia presents a unique setting where significant capital infusions happen reg
ularly to stabilize the weak balance sheets of the public sector banks. “Do
such repeated government sponsored bank capital infusions lower the financ
ial risks and improve the financial stability?”, we shed light on the quest
ion through micro-level data of Indian banks and rigorous empirical methods
