SUMMARY:CONNEXIONS - Webinar 01 | Archives, Databases and Timelines: Exploring Digital Humanities
DESCRIPTION:Webinar 01 | Archives, Databases and Timelines - Exploring Digital Humaniti
esSaturday, May 9, 2020 | 5pm to 6pm IST \nProf. Maya Dodd | Asst. Dean - T
eaching, Learning & Engagement; Ph.D. - Stanford University, USA\nThe d
isruptions that COVID-19 unleashed on us has awoken many to the value and r
elevance of digital technologies in our daily lives--particularly in the wo
rld of education. While we grapple with EdTech and virtual learning, the in
terdisciplinary field of digital humanities has been focused on the unique
practices of knowledge production and learning made possible by digital too
ls.\nThis webinar will describe the field of Digital Humanities (or DH, as
it is commonly called) and address questions around digital affordances and
the output of significant projects generated in the field. Several of thes
e DH projects involve curation of contemporary heritage and a new approach
to Cultural Studies in India. At FLAME University we have been offering cou
rses in DH for several years, and the projects and research this produced p
rovides a model in virtual learning and collaboration. The work showcased w
ill include websites, podcasts and digital archives and covers a wide span
of topics from databases in children's literature, crowdsourcing community
cookbooks, and timelines of colonial botanical surveys. Join us for a peek
into the world of undergraduate student research at FLAME University. Prof.
Maya will be joined by FLAME alumni, Aarathi Ganesan and FLAME undergradua
te student, Muskaan Pal.\n View Presentation (http://www.flame.edu.in/pdfs
