 \nIn this talk, Dr. Park will explore Asian American authors’ innovative us
 es of the stereotypes about 'inscrutable' Asian American minds by using the
  tools offered by rhetorical and cognitive narratology as well as research 
 in the cognitive and neurosciences. Dr. Park will also talk about the joy a
 nd perils of her attempt to bring together narrative theory and Asian Ameri
 can literature in her scholarship.\n\nHyesu Park was born in Seoul, South K
 orea and moved to the United States in 2007 to pursue graduate studies in E
 nglish. She received PhD in English from Ohio State University in 2014 and 
 is currently Assistant Professor of English at Bellevue College, Washington
 , US. She has published "Lost in the Gutters: Ethnic Imaginings in Adrian T
 omine's Shortcomings" in a peer reviewed journal (Image and Narrative, 2010
 ), and has contributed to Encyclopedia of World Comics: Manga, Anime, Tinti
 n, and More Comics from Around the Globe (forthcoming in 2016).\n
