Associate Professor – Biology

Dr. Shweta Rana’s field of specialization is Biofertilizers : phosphate solubilizing microorganisms and associative nitrogen fixers. Her research areas comprise of isolation and characterization of phosphate solubilizers from Alfisols, Azospirillum establishment in the rhizospheres of certain crops, pathogenicity genes of Magnaporthe grisea, mapping local microbial diversity, evolutionary studies, pathogens and their genetics etc. She was awarded full Scholarship to complete her Doctoral Studies from the University. She was awarded Scholarship also from Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for two years of her Doctoral Studies. She has also worked with Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India in Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program on the Rice Genome Project at MS University Baroda. She is a recipient of Gold medal in Microbiology and Certificate of Excellence in Academics awarded by Council Of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India.
