Placements at FLAME School of CommunicationWe are witnessing one of the most exciting periods in broadcasting history. In news especially, given the proliferation of TV and radio channels and the merging of the formerly separate disciplines of print, audio and video journalism, there are opportunities for eager and talented people to play an influential part in the new era. FLAME School of Communication is a great pedestal to enter the world of communication and mass media. At the end of their course, our students stepping out have myriad options to choose from. The mass media industry has been growing rapidly in India outpacing the rate of growth in the entire economy. According to a recent FICCI study, this sector is expected to grow at a compound rate of 19 % p.a. Sub-sectors that have major shares in this business are TV (51%), Cinema (18%) and Print media (23%). While the industry is poised to grow by leaps and bounds, trained manpower in this industry is already in a chronic short supply. As industry booms, this gap is expected to widen in the years to come. Currently, there are some facilities available for technical training but the quality falls far short of international standards. Management training specifically designed for this industry is almost non-existent in India. FLAME School of Communication provides students with managerial and business skills as well as creative and technical skills required in the field of mass media. Thus, the course trains students not only in the art and craft of mass media (including TV and Cinema) but also gives them a fundamental grounding in management sciences and insights into the real world business of mass media. The program is expected to propel students’ careers in media industries whether as executives in organizations such as TV channels, production houses, media conglomerates and advertising agencies or as entrepreneurs in their own rights; making films, documentaries, TV shows and ad-films. FLAME’s Placement Office approaches potential employers in India and abroad and invites them to FLAME’s campus to recruit graduating students as well as summer interns. The Placement Office also holds special sessions to help prepare students to take up various career opportunities. These sessions include topics related to soft skills such as interview skills, etiquette, presentation and communication.
