The Graduation ProjectDuring the last trimester, each graduating student is expected to complete an independent graduation project. The graduation project offers the student an opportunity to create a show reel on par with the professionals in the real world. The objective is to let a student conceive and complete, within the given timeframe, a major project, in the area of his specialization, using all his learning during the two-year Program at FLAME School of Communication and to create a document (and a film, if relevant,) that showcases his learning to the industry where he seeks to make a career. For students specializing in Marketing & Advertising, the project should have a research component and strategic analysis component. The research work must include detailed market investigation, including primary field survey wherever required, and interviews with concerned parties and experts. The strategy component must include detailed analysis and a set of recommendations to achieve the objective. For students specializing in Film, TV or Broadcast Journalism, the project should have a research component as well as production component in the form of either an independent fiction film or a documentary film or a pilot episode for a TV show. Every student has to make a presentation to a Panel of Experts and face viva. New Options for the World (NOW)NOW is a four-day seminar series created with the objective of providing insights about critical issues facing the world today and exploring new options. This annual event is entirely student run and invites experts from various walks of life to share experiences, ideas, and debate upon pre-selected themes that are relevant to today's world order. The students also make presentations on the themes selected and face questions from their peers. Some of the themes tackled at NOW so far include:
International Film Festival (IFFI), GoaCinema today is a major phenomenon reflecting ideas, viewpoints and cultures of different parts of the world. From the tentative beginnings of the silent cinema in the early 20th century, cinema has now become a major influencing factor in the world as well as its candid reflection. A study of the world cinema offers a glimpse of the state of mankind today. Students from FLAME School of Communication participate in International Film Festival of India in Goa organized by the Government of India every year for six days. They attend pre-festival introductory sessions in Pune and have to submit reviews of 15 selected films and make a detailed critical presentation on one when they are back in Pune. One of the major objectives of this exercise is to help students understand the changing human condition in different parts of the world as reflected in its cinema. |
