Akshay has a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Economics from University of Pune. He later attended State University of New York, where he received a Masters Degree in Applied Economics. Akshay’s research interests include Econometrics, Forecasting, Health Economics, and Development Economics.
Akshay has worked as an Intern, Operations and Facilities, with the Campus Recreation Services, State University of New York, Binghamton for a span of 1.5 yrs. As an intern he was responsible for ensuring that Campus Recreation Services functioned smoothly and all safety norms were properly adhered to. He also had to supervise, schedule shifts, and process payroll for a staff of about 20 people. He was also involved with marketing assignments for the organization.
After his return to India, Akshay secured a position as an Assistant Professor, Economics and Econometrics, with Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development. He is now a Partner in “The Quantitative Analyst”, a consulting firm based out of Pune. He has been a Visiting Professor of Economics, Econometrics, and Mathematical Economics at Foundation of Liberal and Management Education, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, and Indian Institute of Planning and Management. Akshay is involved with conducting workshops on Statistical Analysis using Basic SPSS and Minitab for Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. He has also been an instructor for the quantitative section on GRE and GMAT with Dilip Oak’s Academy.
Beyond his professional life, Akshay has been a Basketball player, and has captained the Maharashtra State and Pune District Team on more than one occasion. He is currently a member of the Referees Panel, Pune District Basketball Association.
