With seven year’s of academic experience and ten years’ rich industry experience, Anirban brings to the table a rare blend of theory and practice. Understanding, managing and growing any business is his broad area of interest.
Anirban started his career in the industry – in the area of manufacturing with CEAT – initially based at its Mumbai plant at Bhandup and then at Nasik. After a two year stint, he went on to do his full-time management studies (M.M.S.) from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) specializing in Marketing.
Having experienced the corporate world across industries and across functions, Anirban moved to academics with a dream of bridging the gap between industry and academics. He moved to Goa from Chennai with his wife and two-year old daughter in 2001 and joined Goa Institute Of Management (GIM) as Associate Professor (Marketing). He identified Retail as his area of specialization. Along with his regular teaching responsibilities, he enrolled and completed for his PhD in the area of evolution and growth of organized retail in India under University of Pune. His other areas of interest are Strategic Marketing, Business Marketing. Currently, he is also actively working towards establishing a Centre For Services Excellence at GIM – with expertise in verticals like Financial Services, Retailing, Tourism, Healthcare and Professional Services.
He has been holding various administrative positions in tandem. He is the Chairperson Placement Program for the sixth year GIM. He was till recently also serving as the Chairperson Marketing Area at GIM.
