INTRODUCTION

As Higher Education transforms globally, faculty who are at the epicentre of such transformation need to respond accordingly. Their role seems to have enlarged much beyond their traditional duties of teaching and research. They are also now viewed as purveyors of institutional effectiveness and promoters of associations between the institution and its stakeholders, even within their traditional role, there are drastic changes in terms of the pedagogical innovations and assessment methodologies which they have to learn and imbibe to bring about effective classroom delivery. The fact that the faculty would have to discharge a much more comprehensive role highlights very clearly the need for training them to help them multi-skill and develop appropriate competencies so as to enable them to discharge their roles effectively.

With this objective in mind, The FLAME Centre for Case Development (FCCD) is organizing a competency development program for teachers spanning over a period of three days. This program is organised around three sub themes, first being the teacher and the learner, second being the teacher per se and the third being the teacher in the context of the work environment. Various sessions delivered by eminent resource faculty are organised as a part of each of these three sub themes, the ultimate objective being to equip the teachers with suitable competencies so as to enable them to respond proactively to the transformation in Higher Education.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The participants at the end of this program would be in a position to:

- Develop an appreciation of pedagogical innovations and assessment methodologies in relation to the teaching of Management and Social Sciences.
- Transform student learning with effective communication and engage them in class discussions.
- Develop effective presentation and interpersonal skills and learn the intricacies involving course and curriculum development.
- Conduct a suitable research investigation and be able to tie up classroom teaching with research.
- Appreciate the interdisciplinary nature of higher education and understand the changing dynamics of their role therein.
- Understand the key performance indicators (KPI) on the basis of which their appraisal is conducted.
