as part of the 'BIG IDEAS IN SCIENCE' lecture series


About the Speaker: Dr. Deepa Subramanyam is currently a scientist and faculty at the National Centre for Cell Sciences, Pune. She received her Ph.D. from the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bengaluru. Dr. Subramanyam conducted her postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco. She is the recipient of several awards and grants and has published extensively.


In this talk, Dr. Subramanyam will introduce the science of stem cell research including the behaviour of stem cells and whether they can be used to better understand and potentially cure human disease. Additionally, the talk will also address the ethical considerations of stem cell research in today's world.
