The Department of Physical and Natural Sciences invite you to
"AUTOMATA, NUMBERS AND GEOMETRY" - A talk by Dr. Vivek Mallick
as part of the 'BIG IDEAS IN SCIENCE' lecture series
About the Speaker: Dr. Vivek Mallick is currently a faculty member in Mathematics at the Indian Institute of Scientific Education and Research (IISER), Pune. He received his Ph.D. from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), India where he studied algebraic geometry.
In this talk, Dr. Mallick will describe cellular automata- which are one player games with simple rules. He will show how they can be used for modeling various biological phenomena. Additionally, the talk will link such games with some results in number theory and geometry.
This talk is open to all and is aimed at a general audience.
