Mrs. Alka Pande is an engineer by background. She did her Mechanical Engineering from VNIT, Nagpur (1973) and has outstanding academic achievements to her credit. She was third in order of merit in the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education and was first among the girls (1968).


Mrs. Pande has work experience of over four decades mostly in Automobile sector.


Currently she is Advisor to ASDC -Automotive Skills Development Council (2013 onwards) with “the automobile domain work experience and knowledge” as critical contributing factors to her present position. She is closely associated with “Skill India” program of Government of India. She has conducted several workshops and addressed seminars on Automotive Skills as a part of Skill India Program. 


As Advisor to ASDC, her responsibilities include the Co-ordination work related to enhancement of the Skilling Infrastructure for the Auto Industry which entails

- Preparation of Qualification requirements /National Occupation Standards
- Engagement with Auto Industry & peripheral areas
- Evaluating / Guiding the Training & Educational Institutions towards meeting the Auto sector requirements
- Defining Process of Assessment of the candidates , trainers and assessors and training to bridge the gaps

She has worked with Auto-component industry for more than thirty years – major experience being with Bosch Chassis Systems / earlier Kalyani Brakes Limited.


Mrs. Pande has contributed in the Design and development of Brake systems practically for every well known OEM brand of cars such as Alto, Etios, Swift, Corsa, Scorpio to name just a few.  


She  has two children. Daughter is working with Morgan Stanley as Executive Director and Son is a doctor and doing his post graduation at Washington University, USA.


Mrs. Pande has travelled extensively in India and abroad in connection with her work and considers this as a major contributor to her personality.
