Kasivisvanathan "Chelva" Chelvakumar, Visiting Professor, IIT - Gandhinagar

The Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) Nuffield - FLAME University is pleased to welcome Kasivisvanathan "Chelva" Chelvakumar, Visiting Professor at IIT - Gandhinagar. Professor Chelvakumar received a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Civil Engineering with a minor in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology and a Health Care Executive MBA from the University of California, Irvine. His extensive cross-sectoral experience includes serving as the President of EPIR Technologies, Inc., a research, development and manufacturing company for the U.S. defense agencies and working as a tenure-track faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University, where he led the structural design team of the Mars Rover robotics project. Professor Chelvakumar has also acted as a shuttle diplomat in the Sri Lankan Civil War during the 80’s and 90’s working between the governments of Sri Lanka and India and the Tamil leadership.
