The title of her talk is "Stress in a Global World: Youth in Urban India"

As the world is rapidly globalizing, there are burgeoning challenges and opportunities for young people. The talk will cover a discussion of these challenges and opportunities. Globalization implies integration of products, people, and processes. Both individuals and societies need to adapt to these changes. The process of adaptation is stressful. Among young people, the process of globalization compounds the challenges experienced as they try to define their identities and their relationships. Psychosocial challenges experienced by young people include facing situations where they have to interact with people and processes from diverse cultures (e.g., in multinational companies). In these situations where their traditional coping strategies do not work, they need to develop coping strategies that combine their preferences and the realities of the situation, thus adding to their stress.
