Welcome to FirstCut – an International festival of student films organized by FLAME University to provide an active platform to young filmmakers in the country & encourage them to explore the medium of film as a reflection of the society they inhabit as well as a potential agent of change. FirstCut believes that freedom is essential for any creative work & hence provides its participants the complete freedom to choose their own themes and style of work.


FirstCut offers young filmmakers a platform to showcase their talent in fiction and well as documentary filmmaking. Additionally, there is the unique ‘Nano Film’ category that will challenge one’s creativity in making super-short films.


The best works will be screened during the Festival at FLAME for an eminent panel from the film industry & a live audience. All these works will also be put up on FirstCut’s YouTube Channel and other social media platforms. Screening will be followed by panel discussions with renowned film personalities & many other events.


Winners will be awarded cash prizes, certificates and trophies in each Category. All short-listed contestants will get a travel subsidy to travel to Pune and hospitality by fellow students. For non-contestants keen on attending the Festival ‘Delegate’ passes are available on registration. There is no entry/registration fee.
