The Development Activities Program has been designed with the principal objective of focusing on holistic intellectual development of the students. Development activities give the students an exposure to ground realities by bringing them into direct contact with the underprivileged, inculcating in them the values of empathy, humility and compassion. Development activities are mandatory and are scheduled for three hours each week. Students are encouraged to design their project proposals, strategies and implementation plans, which allow them to practice and experiment with the skills, ideas and concepts that they learn in their academic courses. Focus is on taking up small projects connected to environment protection, resource conservation, income-generating enterprises and developing market models. The underlying purpose of these initiatives is to foster a spirit of social enterprise in the students and to encourage them to aim at maximization of sustainability.
