Why I Chose FLAME
FLAME offered the promise of originating a brand new style of education and pioneering new majors that were missing in the Indian context. I chose FLAME because of its fresh re-think on education, the ability to attempt building new programs of study, and the freedom to teach in innovative ways.
What Sets FLAME Apart From Other Institutions
FLAME’s curricular offerings are truly exceptional in that they ask to be relevant to an Indian context. My focus has been on South Asian studies and I take it as a worthy challenge to get Indian students to consider their contemporary situation and to probe the history that frames it. The small class sizes offer an unparalleled opportunity to ask challenging questions in a collaborative setting. The students are very responsive to mentoring and by the time they complete their studies we’ve formed a small little interpretive community of our own!
The Courses I Teach At FLAME
I teach Introduction to Literary and Cultural Studies. In the major, I teach South Asian Cultural Studies, Theories of the Text, Literatures of Globalization, Indian Law and Cultural Studies and Critical Theory.
